Design & Structure:

• The stub end consists of two parts:

  1. Spigot End – plain end for butt fusion or electrofusion welding with HDPE pipes.

  2. Lap End (Flared Face) – formed end that interfaces with a loose backing ring/flange.

• When used with a steel or HDPE backing ring, the lap end bears the sealing pressure, while the backing ring provides the mechanical strength for bolting.

Material Properties:

• Manufactured from High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) PE100 / PE80 grades in compliance with ISO 4427 / DIN 8077/8078 standards.

• Resistant to corrosion, abrasion, and most chemicals.

• High flexibility and impact strength, suitable for underground and above-ground installations.

• Non-toxic and safe for potable water applications.

Performance Characteristics:

• Pressure Rating: Typically designed for PN6, PN10, PN16, and higher (depending on pipe and flange size).

• Temperature Range: -40 °C to +60 °C continuous service (short-term peaks up to 80 °C depending on medium).

• Joint Integrity: Provides a strong, leak-proof connection when paired with appropriate gaskets and backing flanges.

• Service Life: More than 50 years under normal operating conditions.

Applications:

• Water supply and distribution networks.

• Sewage and drainage pipelines.

• Marine and dredging pipelines.

• Situations requiring frequent disassembly or flange alignment adjustments.

Installation:

• The stub end is welded to the HDPE pipe using butt fusion or electrofusion techniques.

• A backing ring (metallic or HDPE) is slipped over the stub end and tightened with bolts to create a flange joint.

• Easy to disassemble without cutting the pipe, making it cost-effective for maintenance.
